I hold a BSc Degree in Agricultural Sciences from University of Córdoba (UCO) in 2012. In 2009, I joined the Department of Agricultural Entomology at UCO as an internship student, where I carried out my final degree project in collaboration with the company Alcaliber SA. My project focused on the development of a monitoring method for the entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana inside plants and its application in biological control of insect pests.
In 2014 I completed a MSc in Crop Production, Protection and Breeding at UCO. For the Master thesis I joined the Department of Genetics. In 2015 obtained a PhD fellowship from the Spanish Ministry of Education to start a new line of research in the group on adaptive evolution in the fungal pathogen Fusarium oxysporum. During my thesis project I collaborated with the group of Prof. Li-Jun Ma at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, USA. In 2019, I completed my PhD degree at UCO. As a result of my work, two new PhD theses have been initiated and the adaptative evolution project is now one of the major research lines in the group.
Currently I am a post-doctoral researcher in the group, where I am continuing my studies on this exciting topic with the aim of understanding the adaptive mechanisms in F. oxysporum.
